Admission requirements

Applicants who have successfully completed the Business Studies specialisation of the Bachelor's in Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam are admitted to the Master of Science in Business Studies programme unconditionally.

Admission requirements for other applicants
Other applicants must apply to the Board of Examiners for assessment of their qualifications. The final attainment standards of these are expected to be equivalent to those of the above University of Amsterdam BSc specialisation, as defined in its Education and Examination Regulations. Depending upon the results of that assessment, the Board of Examiners may grant unconditional or conditional admission, or reject the application. In certain cases applicants who hold an Bachelor's degree from another university have to complete the  Preparatory programme Business Studies first, before they are admitted to the Master's programme.

Dutch applicants who hold an HBO-degree
Dutch applicants who hold certain HBO-certificates, can be admitted to the Master's programme after they have successfully completed the  Preparatory programme Business Studies. The Board of Examiners assesses whether applicants are qualified to enter the preparatory programme. For further information, please go to http://www.studeren.uva.nl/heaohbo.

Bachelor-before-Master rule
From 1 September 2009 onwards, the Bachelor-before-Master rule applies in line with the University's policy. This means that students who are registered as a Bachelor's student have to successfully complete their Bachelor's programme before they can register as a Master's student and be admitted to participate in Master's courses and take examinations for these courses. With regard to students taking a pre-Master's programme, they first have to successfully complete their pre-Master's programme before they can take any Master's course.
