Inhoud
Information visualization is becoming a hot topic. Online interactive graphics - that allow us to visually explore overviews and details of information on all kinds of topics - are popping up in more and more places on the web (go to

http://visualcomplexity.com to find many nice examples of what this course is about). Such visualizations of information make good use of our remarkable human capabilities of visual searching, comparing and pattern finding. We will look at online interactive graphics from various perspectives and disciplines, including semiotics, media studies, linguistics, cognitive psychology, computer visualization, cartography and graphic design theory.
